It was a beach weekend. We did some work, got a few thing checked off our list and then we relaxed.
Yesterday we were actually on the beach. It was a perfect day to be there. We enjoyed our beverages, and I read my book. We played a little bit in the water, which was heavenly. No longer cold, not yet hot. Even though the water at our beach is muddy, it’s still water and it’s still the beach. I really enjoy our afternoons on the beach. It is time to rest and relax and recharge. And it’s right there. I think I’ve been waiting since last year for us to really be able to go back and spend our afternoons there. I know that we were there once earlier in the season, but it was early and the water wasn’t perfect yet.
We won’t be on the beach next weekend. I’ll be in Missouri with my Sner, and the sweet husband will be at Gumbo Acres celebrating with his family and friends. After that, though, with a few exceptions, we’ll be spending every Saturday afternoon in the sunshine, next to the water, relaxing.
And today we spent the morning working in the yard. I think that our front flower bed is almost done. We need a few more white plants to fill in the curve and it will be done. Sweet Husband will be getting the pleasure of mulching all of that soon. And I say that he will get that pleasure because not having it mulched bugs him a whole heck of a lot more than it bothers me. I will, though, be happy to have that bed done so we can move on to other things.
Like our vegetable garden.
We are going to be so late getting it out that I’m not sure that it’s even worth it, and that makes me a little sad. We bought the boards this weekend to make the raised beds. We didn’t actually make the raised beds because we won’t be going to get the dirt to fill in the beds for another week and a half or so. Then getting the plants to fill in the beds. I priced them. We’re going to be spending about $150 in the next couple of weeks. I’m thinking that we will be planting tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cilantro, basil, zucchini, squash, melon. I don’t know about anything else to go in there. I thought I’d like to do some okra, but I’ve decided that I am probably never going to eat fried okra again. Maybe some beans? Green beans. I could can some green beans, and that would be good.
It was truly an unwinding weekend here on the coast. What about for you? In what was was your weekend relaxing and just what you needed at this point in your life?
