We have spent most of this weekend waiting for the rain that did not come. That does not mean that it was not a full weekend, but it means that it was a a weekend spent spent in something of suspended animation.
We rescued plants and they are now in the ground. The corner that was once a tangle of terrible spiky, painful palms is turning into a lovely cottage garden. There’s probably another $50 worth of rescue plants to go in before we can begin putting the mulch down. After that we move on to another section of gardening.
And we got to spend time with the Princess. It’s hard to believe that I haven’t seen some of my friends since I got married a year ago. I saw some of my friends more when I lived in Kentucky than I do now that I’ve moved home. However, I suppose a lot of that has to do with me too. I am to blame there as well. I haven’t been a very good friend in many cases. But this weekend, I got to reconnect with a friend, and I have missed her terribly. We’ve made plans for further plans for good times and get togethers. It is inexcusable to have our lives get so in the way that we forget the things that are important.
Relationships are important.
As is relaxation. I think We managed, somehow, to sleep until 11:30. We’d intended to get up and head to Lowes so we could get a few more plants to round out the corner garden and then get things planted before the rains came in. Once it started raining, we were going to finish cleaning our nasty house. that didn’t happen. And I think that’s OK. All day yesterday I could barely stay awake. I think my body was telling me that I needed the rest.
I’ve been gearing myself up for getting ready for our Biggest Loser Challenge at work, which kicks off on Tuesday. Healthy eating and exercise here I come. I’m ready. I swear I’m ready.
How was your weekend? What are you ready for in the coming week?
