Because there are documented benefits to a regular practice of gratitude and thanksgiving, I pause on Tuesdays and give thanks for all of the wonderful things in my life. There are really too many to list, but I try to make Tuesdays my highlight reel.
This week, the following things are making the list:
- I passed my test! The day after we closed on our house, I took the Praxis exam to add an endorsement to my teaching license. I missed a lot more than I expected to, and for the last three weeks I’ve been in agony about whether I scored well enough to add the endorsement. All of this is important because I believe the endorsement will allow me to get a job much closer to home.
- Time with girlfriends. For various reasons, my circle of girlfriends is pretty far-flung, but this past weekend, I got the chance to spend time with several of my friends, including one I hadn’t seen in at least five years. Such a good time!
- Work. I’m at at 2-day workshop about how to teach writing to students in grades K-2. I’m primarily there because I’m being paid (just being honest) but I’m learning some really good stuff. I had a lightbulb moment during yesterday’s sessions, and everything has just kinda fallen into place. It makes me semi-excited about the new year.
- Good deals. We need quite a bit of furniture to fill our new space, and last week during theย Salvation Army’s once-a-year 50% off sale, we found some good stuff for an excellent price.
- Sweet Husband. When he’s wrong, he can admit it and come up with a solution to fix the problem. While I’m still pouting and thinking of ways he can make things up to me, he’s already moved on to getting us back on track. I’m so thankful one of us is mature and can get the ship righted.
- Connections. I’m making so many new friends right now that it isn’t even funny. I’m so very excited about where my blog is heading and the possibilities that are starting to open up. Lots of things on the horizon for us!
I’m sure that there were a ton of other things that I was grateful for in the last week but when I pause to think about it, these are the things that stick out the most.
For what are you thankful this week? What things are making your highlight reel?
Such lovely things to be thankful and very proud of Jen! Congrats on passing your Praxis Exam! So wonderful! I’m thrilled to have been directed your way by Sam of The Annoyed Thyroid. I appreciate your blog and am always happy to see a new post. Happy Tuesday to you!
Awwwww…thank you! One of the things that I love the most about blogging is those connections that are made. I like to think that I have friends all over the world now, and none of that would have happened without blogging. I hope you’ve had a fabulous day!
Lovely gratitude list, Congrats on passing your test. I so agree about friends being so important to our well being. ๐

Thank you! I really do love getting to spend time with my girlfriends. It always makes me wonder why we don’t get together more often. I know we are busy, but man – we make time for lots of other things, why not each other?
I’m so glad you left where you are from on your comment on my blog. I love this Thank You Notes link-up. We have much in common. First, congratuations on passing your test. I’m sure it was quite a stressful time. I teach TK and the ages are 5 and 6 year olds. I love attending workshops and a light bulb comes on that I can take back and apply to my classroom. I’m working summer camps for the $ so you are not alone in your thinking. Enjoyed reading your thankful posts, my day to give gratitude is every Friday. We will have to follow one another and compare our weeks. Have a good weekend – glad to meet a new blogger friend.

The link up is lovely, isn’t it? I really enjoy the positivity that comes from a gratitude practice. It makes a huge difference in life…or at least it does mine.
right now I’m teaching teachers – an academic coach at an elementary school, although there are rumors that I’m being moved to our sixth grade academy. I’m hoping that all of that is a moot point and that I find a job down here on the Coast in an English or math or special education classroom. I really want to be close to home. I love my in-laws and that I get to stay with them during the week, but I love & miss my husband more ๐ (I work an hour and a half away from home).
I am so thankful for new blogging friends too ๐
I’m so sorry I’m late. I’m behind, please forgive me.
Congrats on passing your test, I hope it brings you closer to home. I’m kind of a nerd, because I read two-day workshop on writing for kids K-2 and I got excited. ๐
This year I homeschooled, I was always looking for ways to make writing fun.
Are you going to share your upcycle? ((I may be squealing)) Making new blogging friends is exciting. I’m grateful for all my friendships. ๐ Thank you!
XOXO

No worries! Life gets busy and we roll with it! Teaching writing and reading is my love, although my experience has been with older kids and adults (my dissertation research was with senior citizens and writing). Lots of great stuff there.
I AM going to share my upcycle…as soon as it gets done. It’s been entirely too hot for me to even work in the garage. ๐ I’m hoping for a bit cooler weather soon so I can get back to it.
