Because there are documented benefits to a regular practice of gratitude and thanksgiving, I pause on Tuesdays and give thanks for all of the wonderful things in my life. There are really too many to list, but I try to make Tuesdays my highlight reel.
This week, the following things are making the list:
- Sweet Husband. He really knocked himself out with the anniversary week celebrations. He says all the time, “Whatever my baby wants, my baby gets,” and I think he really means it. When I went home Tuesday night, the house was clean and the porch was filled with rescue plants from Lowe’s. When I came home again Friday night, the laundry was done and everything was fantastic. Saturday was fantastic. The truth is, though, that even without all the “stuff,” he’d make me happy. There is no doubt that he loves me, that he values me, that he’s all in. I couldn’t ask for more.
- Family. We’re in the process of looking for a house (& I think we have found one) and without all of the support of our families, we wouldn’t be in this position.
- Our landlord (& realtor). She’s a gem. I know that she is looking out for us and has our best interests at heart.
- A light at the end of the tunnel. This school year is almost over. It has been very difficult for me for lots of reasons, and I’m looking forward to some time off and the chance to re-group, get clear about what I want, what is expected of me, and what I am willing to give.
It’s a short list this week, but the things on it are big. There is much brewing in my life right now, and I can’t wait to see where I am headed and what is going to come next.
For what are you thankful this week? What blessings are you counting?
