I have not been able to resist the daffodils this week. After an unusually cold winter here in the Deep South, they are a reminder that bright yellow suns and sandy white beaches aren’t too far away.
I am drawn to photographing flowers. I think that perhaps they are so easy to find and get relatively decent photos of. They don’t argue with you need to take repeated shots and you can play around with them. That is largely their appeal. But beyond that, I love taking pictures of flowers because I love flowers. To me there is something amazing about them and the idea that for the most part, they exist simply to be beautiful. I love them in my yard, and I love them in my house.
I never ceased to be amazed at the intricacies of them. When you take a look into the heart of a flower, gaze at the pistil or the stamen and see how delicate they are, the bits of pollen that is attached to them, the lacy folds of the inner petals. They are such amazing tiny (and humongous!) works of gorgeousness!
Enjoy! By the way, all of these photos originally appeared in my Instagram feed. There’s a new button on the sidebar that allows you to click on it and be taken directly to my Instagram. Please follow me there so you don’t miss anything that strikes my fancy during the course of the week!
