Today’s prompt comes from Tenaciously Yours:
Beautiful things: What brought beauty into your life this year? Was it a tangible thing or something intangible? Tell us about it in detail.
My camera. It is what has brought beauty into my life this year. I’ve not taken nearly as many pictures as I have wanted to, but the ones I have taken have forced me to slow down and appreciate things. I’m tired and I can’t remember if I’ve talked about photography here or if it’s in my writer’s notebook, but one of the things that I loved about taking the SuperHero photo course was that it forced me to slow down and really look at the world around me.
There’s a ton of photos on my phone that I haven’t gotten around to putting on my computer. Some of them are fantastic if I do say so myself. I’m trying to get past my prejudice against using a mobile phone to document a life. I think that what really matters is that we document. Not what we document.
Here’s some of the best that I shot with my camera this year.
- Katrina Eagle – downtown Gulfport
- Soaking up the last few moments
- Coastal Sunset
- At Ricky & Shelby’s wedding – 2012
