Several of the members of the local photography group routinely post photos from Lake Mars, which is a boat launch located in Ocean Springs. I have no idea why it is called Lake Mars – who thought of it and why; my cursory googling hasn’t brought up a suitable answer to that particular question. I’m sure that there is a reason, though. When I was feeling a little stuck for inspiration, I decided to head that direction for this week’s Photo Friday post.
I always forget how far it is to Ocean Springs from our house, and then I remember that is probably why we don’t go to Ocean Springs too often. Tonight, it took me 45 minutes to get home from Lake Mars…and I don’t think that we live particularly far, but apparently we do. I suppose that those who suffer are eventually rewarded and Lake Mars does just that.
As always, I took a ton of photos, and tonight I decided to play around with editing them. All of the photos I’m sharing with you now are ones that were edited to emphasize the blue tones. Perhaps this weekend, I’ll get around to sharing the more orangey-red tones.
It was a beautiful night at Mars Lake, even with the biting black flies (why me? Why is that if there is something that will bite, it bites me? Why?) and I could see going back soon. Either for a sunrise shoot or as a prelude to a bonfire because there is a place for that there.
Are the sunsets getting good where you are? As we move into fall, our sunsets are heading back out over the water, which makes them pretty spectacular. I’m excited about catching more of them. I hope you’ve had a good week, and I can’t wait to see what you have to share with us in the link-up!
Photo Friday Link-Up
Welcome to another edition of the Photo Friday link-up! I hope that y’all have had a great week! Last week we had our most participants ever, and I’m so excited about our growing community. Thank y’all for the support you show each other and the work you do to spread the word about our little family here.
Last week our most viewed link came from Ruth of Tanamatales who took us on a trip through the Yosemite Valley – one of the gorgeous places here in America. Ruth visits so many of your posts and leaves such wonderful comments! She also shares most of your posts on Twitter – she’s a tireless campaigner for Photo Friday! Ruth also hosts a link-up of her own – Travel Photo Thursday. If you have a post that fits, consider joining her.
Our last added link came from Ela at The Colors in the Garden. If you missed her flower photos, do yourself a favor and go check them out now! Beautiful photos.
Now, of course, I can’t wait to see what you have to share with us this week!
