Perhaps it is the rain that has been falling since Saturday. Whether it is or not, that’s what I’m going to blame it on. This week I have struggled with motivation and wanting to get things done. It’s a little on the strange side to be honest – there are things I want to do…huge plans percolating in my head…but I just can’t find the energy to even take the smallest of steps that direction.
All of that to say that Photo Friday almost didn’t happen this week. Those times this past weekend that I was going to get out and shoot? Raining. All this week? Raining. I’ve toted my camera around with me this entire time, just in case – schlepping it from the house to the car to the house to the car to the school to the car to the house to the car to the school to the car – all week long, hoping beyond hope that there would be something interesting pop up that I could quickly capture between rain drops. It never happened.
I didn’t do an (Almost) Wordless Wednesday post because there was nothing on my phone and nothing on the camera).
Last night, though, while sitting at the dinner table having my half-priced Sonic cheeseburger (in honor of tax day), I happened to look up and out the kitchen window.
I saw the light.
…and promptly raced down the slick hallway in my bare feet, skidding into the bedroom to yank my camera out of its bag and then gallop out into the carport, sheltered from the rain to catch a picture of it.
For some reason, I was having a huge issue getting my camera to focus. Nothing was working right. I managed to get this shot and then was stymied. By the time I had it sorta-kinda figured out, the light had changed.
It was probably 7:30 when I ran out the door so it was no surprise that the sun was moving behind the clouds, making a dramatic descent to the other side of the world.
Within just a few minutes, the rain was picking up steam, and the sun was well out-of-sight.
Was I the only one with shooting difficulties this week? Did anyone else struggle to get some good, share-worthy shots in? What’s your plan when you can’t get to shoot? (Y’all almost got re-edited Mardi Gras photos this week. It was a very, very close thing)
Where I’m linking up.
A little over a week ago, to celebrate making it to 200 likes on my Facebook page, I initiated a photo give-away. The contest ran through Tuesday night at midnight, and now it’s time to choose our winner! Using the random winner generator through Rafflecopter, VERONICA of Mum of Five Girls is our winner!
Congratulations Veronica! Please get in contact with me – here, FB, Twitter – and let me know which print you’d like to have sent to you!
Photo Friday Link-Up
…and now it’s time for my favorite time of the week – the time that I get to see all of your wonderful photos! Did y’all happen to see how many folks joined us last week? I’m so thankful to have my Clever Cookie classmates joining us for the week!
Last week’s most viewed link came from Shannon at My2Morrows! Shannon is a member of the same Clever Cookie 10-on-10 photography circle that I’m in, so if you’ve got some time, start making your way around the circle by clicking on the link in her post. I love the photos of her kids – especially the ones where the little guy is jumping in the puddles. I also love this photo:
Last week, our last-added link came from Buckaroomama. Definitely go have a looksie – when I first saw the photo I couldn’t tell if it was of ballerinas or flamingos – either way – great shot! I do love it a lot…even if I can now clearly see what it is!
I can’t wait to see everything you guys come up with this week!
