I’ve been struggling this evening, trying to decide what to write about. It wasn’t a good day, and all I can see right this moment is to detail in all of it’s minutia how awful some things are. I knew, though, that writing that ultimately wouldn’t be good for me. Perhaps I’ll do that tomorrow afternoon while I’m waiting for the School Board Meeting.
I went off in search of prompts give me some inspiration. I’m participating in NaBloPoMo, which has a daily suggested prompt, but it didn’t speak to me. I googled around and most found prompts about gratitude (tis the season and all), but I don’t want to steal tomorrow’s thunder.
Then I remembered that I signed up to (loosely) participate in Write Alm’s 30 Days of Writing, and today’s prompt happens to be “Happiness is…”
I think that’s just what I need this evening.
So.
Happiness is…
- a fresh cup of hot coffee with some salted caramel mocha creamer
- sitting on the couch next to Sweet Husband
- an hour to write on the front porch when the Japanese honeysuckle is blooming
- digging in the dirt and watching dying things come back to life
- a road trip with incredible driving songs (that’s a good idea for a post…the perfect driving mix. I’ll remember to do that)
- hot fried chicken
- grandma’s pecan pie
- time with my best friends
- sleeping in my own bed with fresh, clean sheets
- long, hot showers
- Sunday mornings with Sweet Husband
- Dallas Cowboys victories
- daily emails with my bestie
- a day in New Orleans to spend wandering from place to place with my camera and my journal and someone to drive me home (because there’s going to be eating and drinking in each place)
- all-you-can-eat sushi
- an afternoon at a baseball game, preferably one in which the Kansas City Royals are going to rack up a win
- a day on the beach, our wedding playlist coming through the portable speakers, a cooler full of vermattucky lemonade, and a library of great reads on my Nook
- a weekend in the mountains, temperatures cool enough for a fire and need to cuddle up in the tent, warm enough to comfortably hike through the hills
- NCIS
- a fresh notebook and a new pen
- an outstanding bargain
- sleeping in
- the perfect gin martini
- a lesson that goes exactly as planned
- someone saying thank you
- boiled shrimp and raw oysters
- my puppies and my kitty
- this incredible family I’ve found
- a massage and a mani/pedi
- Sweet Husband
I feel better now.
Oh! Your creamer sounds divine! Nice list!
It’s wonderful! By international delights 😉 I panic a little when I go to the store & can’t find it. I’m waiting for them to make it in the big bottle 😉
beautiful! love a list and this one is just wonderful. xo
Thank you so much for stopping by!
These are all so good! And there is nothing like a new notebook and pen, nothing.
I’m just about ready for a brand new notebook! I’m hoping that it hits on a weekend so I’ve got time to really enjoy it 😉 Thank you for stopping by!
I used to have a tape of rock songs including “Hold on Loosely” and “I Can’t Drive 55” that was absolutely the best driving music, although not my usual listening material.
My bike ride today was happiness, and resting my back after several hours of sewing is definitely happiness.
Those are great driving songs! I made several cross country trips with lots of great tunes. I need to fire up my personal laptop this weekend & dig some of those mixes out…because insure as rock can’t remember them now lol!
