In early October, I participated in the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk, meeting up with a group of photographers in New Orleans. We started in historic Jackson Square at 8:00 in the morning and then made our way into the French Quarter in groups of 3-5. Lots of people in the groups expressed that they were excited for the opportunity because they were afraid to wander through New Orleans…anywhere…with their expensive cameras. Granted, New Orleans is a different place than it once was, and even in the Quarter, where tourism drives everything and thus there is a larger police presence, there are still problems. But at 8:00 in the morning, generally things are cool…if you’re paying attention.
As a single female traveler for most of my adult life, I’m always paying attention…aware of what’s going on around me and who is near or not.
Paying attention is a great way to find treasures in New Orleans – like hidden courtyards.
