It’s 8:30 on a Sunday night, and I somehow can’t believe it is Sunday night. I’m not sure what happened to this weekend. Where did it go? And why isn’t tonight Saturday night? That’s what I can’t figure out. it should be Saturday night. At least that is what my body is telling me. My body is wrong, though.
It was a busy weekend, and I suppose that is why I’m feeling like this should still be Saturday.
Friday night, Sweet Husband came up to Hattiesburg. A friend of his graduated from college and after dinner with SH’s parents, we made our way out to the party. One of the things we miss by living on the Coast are all of the bonfires. It’s nothing for either a Friday or Saturday night for SH’s friends to get together and light some wood on fire. One of the things that we will do if we buy this house is build a fire pit. We don’t have one here, and I miss sitting around a fire, enjoying a cocktail, listening to some music and talking with friends. It’s very much a good time…and I have to say that I like the smaller fires – ones with regular firewood versus the roaring fires that we used to light in the field at Gumbo Acres.
I’m not much of a party person, but I really did enjoy being with our friends Friday night. Some of them we haven’t seen in awhile. Staying in touch isn’t the easiest thing in the world when we are here and they are there. In 2015, I really want to make more of an effort to keep in contact with our friends – create opportunities for us to get together and play.
Saturday was a GREAT day. It just so happened to be Granny’s birthday, and SH’s momma and I had her out of the house early Saturday morning to do some shopping (got SH’s daddy a couple of cabana shirts, although no other Christmas shopping done). We then took her to the Half Shell Oyster house where we had a ton of oysters. They are so very good!
Saturday night was Second Saturday, which is our favorite, but we missed last month. One of my girlfriends that I hadn’t seen in a long while came out and joined us for the festivities., We both always have a good time whenever she is around, and when you add in the free drinks that come with 2nd Saturday, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. There was also fireworks – marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of the Bay, which slowed down the British on the way to the Battle of New Orleans.
As an aside…I’ve got to get better at taking pictures to document what is going on in our lives. If you’re on Instagram – follow me there. What pictures I do remember to take go there.
After so much excitement this weekend, today has been a lazy day. I got up early intending to do quite a bit of stuff – get the Christmas ards started, clean the house, decorate the tree, color my hair. Of those, the only thing that has gotten done is the tree is finally decorated. It’s 11:00 at night, and I’m just now getting the laundry done. I will pay for today’s laziness later in the week; its the week before Christmas, my Sner is coming on Friday, and we leave for Missouri on Saturday. So much to do.
Which brings me to the intentions for this week.
This morning as I was getting my morning pages done, I had a really hard time coming up with the list of things that I needed to do this week. It feels like there is so much that it has completely overwhelmed me. I’m not putting things in separate categories this week because to be honest, I’m so clueless about what I need to be doing at work that there really isn’t anything for me to put in the “Professional” category.
So this week’s intentions:
- Get back in a writing groove. Being sick and then trying to get caught up at work really did a number on my routines.,
- Catch up on my blog postings
- Get the Christmas cards done
- Clean the house (or more accurately leave a list of things for SH to do so he can get the house clean)
- Order photo prints
- Plan menus for Christmas day (we’re hosting) and NYE (we’re having a party – first for the Mississippi State Football Orange Bowl appearance and then for NYE)
- Pack for our trip
I think that’s about it. How have y’all been? I’ve missed you. Did you have a good weekend? I hope you are well-advanced in your holiday preparations!
