There are documented benefits to a regular practice of gratitude so I take Tuesdays to count my blessings if you will, to take stock of the many wonderful things in my life.
This week the following things are on the short list:
- Sweet Husband & time with him. Last week’s unexpected Snowliday was so very nice. Being out of town makes things difficult and creates inevitable distance in our relationship. We started long distance; we never thought that after we married we’d be long distance again. Three uninterrupted days together was heaven.
- Warmer temperatures. I’ve lives in the South too long. While much of the country is buried and frozen, we are warmer again. It’s chillier than I’d like but soon we’ll be getting the garden ready and I’ll be replanting plants on the porch. We’ll be headed the 6 blocks to the beach on Saturday afternoons and life will be warm and glorious in the sunshine.
- Routine. I’m still in a funk that I can’t quite put my finger on but there is something to be said for that whole fake-it-til-you-make-it thing. I’m writing. I’m taking my medication. Im taking pictures. I’m meditating. I’m caring for myself. It makes a difference.
- A good boss. Work isn’t always good. But I have a boss who is supportive and pretty much lets me do my own thing. It is nice to be supported and valued.
For what are you grateful this week? What blessings are you counting?
