Because there are documented benefits to a regular practice of gratitude, I take Tuesdays to pause and give thanks for the many blessings in my life.
•Work that pays the bills. The last-of-the-month bills are due, and the last couple of days, I’ve been writing checks and scheduling online payments. I don’t have the healthiest relationship with money, but these days I don’t worry that the bills will be paid. Sometimes things are tight, but I recognize the plenty that is my life, and I am thankful for my obligations and the ability to meet them.
•Friends and time with them. I have missed my girlfriends and spending time with them. Saturday was balm to the soul. It was a full day of the right balance meaningful activity and frivolity.
•My gardens. Things are looking beautiful out there. I need to take some pictures and report back. I gain infinite peace from working in the garden, even pulling the weeds. There is such satisfaction in seeing the progress that just a little effort yields, and the lesson of patience while you are waiting for greater rewards is a precious gift.
•The beach. It’s right there and it is incredibly beautiful. We haven’t been in a couple of weeks but I walk by it and I drive it most mornings because it too brings peace to my soul. It is never the same, yet it is constant. I am looking forward to time there this weekend.
•Opportunity. There are a couple of things in the works for me, and I am so excited. I’m not sure exactly how to make it all work out, but there are wonderful things in the works.
•My family. Sweet Husband has been raised right, and I know I am well-cared for. I’m thankful for the relationship with my Sner, and I know that I have the family I’m supposed to have.
•Modern medicine. I’m not feeling well, and this has me concerned again. I have another doctor’s appointment coming soon. It will be ok.
•All my Facebook friends. I put out a call to have folks share my page to get me to 100 likes, and all my people came through for me. If you’d like to like my page too, there’s handy button located in the right sidebar.
What about you, friends? For what are you thankful this week?
