Do any of y’all know any teachers? Are they frazzled and tired and about as worn out as worn out gets? I’m not sure what about anyone else, but this week feels a bit like my breaking point. Monday I got a huge list of new things that have to be done RIGHT NOW and another huge list of things that have to be done NOW. All of that is on top of all the regular things that are on my teacher plate.
And did I mention that we are buying a house? (Offer accepted and acceptable insurance quote – which is no joke on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Holy crow! We had multiple quotes that were running right at $4000/year)
And that I’m looking for a job?
And that instead of just 2 early morning hour and a half drives to work and two early evening hour and a half drives home this week? There were 3.
Life right now is stressful.
But I did get out to take some pictures this week. A few yesterday and a few more today, and then on my ride home tonight, I passed by this stand of pine trees – where the undergrowth has recently been burned off and a quite lovely white weed has sprung up. The contrast between the black of the burnt undergrowth crawling up the red bark of the pine trees, surrounded by these wispy, white waving weeds was irresistible. In fact, I drove by it and turned back to capture it. Unfortunately, I was foiled by improper footwear and a terrible fear of what kind of critters I might disturb to get close enough to get the shot. (tomorrow I’m going to wear appropriate shoes and long pants)
All of that combines to mean that I didn’t shoot anything this week that I feel like was worth sharing. Fortunately, I do have a stock of photos that I can draw on, and it was fun to go back through those photos to decide what to share.
Back in September, I went on a swamp tour with a local photography group and shared some of the photos I took. However, there were a lot that I didn’t share.I’d really like to go back and take another tour. I see quite a few of them listed on Groupon and Living Social, and I think I might ask the Sner if she wants to try to take a tour when she visits in early June.
I think one of the things that I loved about that trip were all of the elephant ears. They were HUGE, and I really want to head back with a shovel and dig some up to put in our new yard. That’s probably frowned upon on the tour, but if you think I won’t head down a back road and snag some, you might want to think again. I know Sweet Husband’s grandma would help me. 😉
I was also fascinated by the wild rice plants. I had never seen those before, and now I know what those plants are that I see along the road as we head into New Orleans. I was spotting them each trip there for a little while.
Where I’m linking up today.
Welcome back to the Photo Friday link-up! I’m so glad that y’all are here and sharing with us!
Last week’s most viewed link came from Buckeroomama and featured a great way to use those left-over sillybandz that you bought for your kids.
Our last link added last week came from Images by CW – what gorgeous reminders of spring.
I can’t wait to see what all y’all have to share with us this week…& I promise to be a better host. I didn’t share your pots as much as I normally do, but I’ll get on top of it this week. My time won’t be taken up with a house hunt 😉
