Welcome to Friday and what is hopefully a long weekend for you! It’s a long weekend for me here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is a godsend. I don’t know if you if you noticed, but I’ve been struggling a bit around here this week and could really use an extra day to really get myself together. I published a link round-up post early Monday morning, which was done in the time I had before surgery, but beyond that, I haven’t gotten anything done.
I was supposed to return to work on Monday, but I was so dizzy and nauseous that there was no chance that could happen. I went to work on Tuesday, but I should have stayed home because I was a sweating, shaking, gagging, lightheaded mess, which means Wednesday I did stay home. And today I struggled through a half day at work because I had my post-op appointment with the doctor, and had to go in because with the surgery and pre-op appointments, I’ve burned through almost all of my sick leave for the year (with the school year being a quarter of the way over). I’m not sure how I’m going to make it through tomorrow.
My family – particularly my Sweet Husband – have been incredible. As my surgeon says, these symptoms should have abated within 48-72 hours of the surgery, but for me, they started even later than that. SH’s parents came down over the weekend and helped out while I was out of it. My co-workers have covered for me and told me not to worry, that they just want me to feel better. Which makes me feel better, but I want to actually really physically feel better. I made dinner tonight and was too wiped out to eat it, which is OK because I doubt it would have stayed down anyway.
I was supposed to have a guest poster for you this week, but something came up. Hopefully they will be able to make it next week. I’ve got a few folks lined up for the following weeks. In the meantime, this week, I’m drawing on some photos I took of the persimmons in our yard.
One of the things that drew us to our house when we were shopping was the yard. We have persimmon trees, a pear tree, what I think are kumquat trees, and pecan trees. The backyard is expansive and gorgeous. I am excited to add to it.
I’m also excited to have the persimmons ripen. Sweet Husband brought one in two days ago and apparently they aren’t ready. It took awhile to unpucker his lips. As soon as they do ripen, I’m looking forward to making jelly for Christmas presents.

I hope y’all have had a great week and have awesome plans for the weekend – including some incredible opportunities for taking photos. It’s Cruisin’ the Coast here, and we have friends staying with us to take in the classic cars. I’m hoping that I can get some great shots with my phone…and that I’m feeling up to enjoying our company to the fullest.
Photo Friday Link-Up
And now we are on to the Photo Friday Link-Up!
Y’all are amazing! I took Denyse’s advise and didn’t make it around to any of your posts last week because I just couldn’t manage it. I’m hoping that I get to feeling a bit better and can make it to last week’s posts AND this week’s. I hate that I missed y’all because I know as always, there was amazing work that I missed out on.
Last week’s most viewed link came from Betty at Photographing New Zealand. What gorgeous tulips!
Our last added link came from Ela at Kolory w Ogrodzie. If you missed her sweet, small feathered friends, go check them out! So cute!
Thank y’all for supporting each other so well! I can’t wait to see what you have for us this week!
