This has been a hard week. I think I said that last week, didn’t I? But this has been a really hard week. There’s lots of stuff that has come up for me – the emotions that have surrounded the murders of two Hattiesburg police officers, anxiety about work, nervousness about buying a house, how the stuff with my accident way back in February will get handled.
To deal with all of the crap from this week, I’ve been thinking about and planning photo shoots. I’ve been making lists in my head and then in my Trello app – of places to shoot, things to shoot, stuff to remember. Because that feels like the right thing to do. I even made plans to attend a group photo shoot in New Orleans with members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Photography Club (that’s happening on May 30 – be sure to watch for photos from that trip).
It makes sense to me to create – to attempt to make some sort of sense – perhaps some beauty – out of the chaos that feels like life has become. Sweet Husband’s boss had all of his staff take a personality test, and I took it as well. One of the things I found out was that I like order and organization. That need for order is driving me this week. I organized my office at work; I made lists of things that have to happen in order for us to move. It makes me feel better.
Just like taking pictures makes me feel better. Tonight I went to Jones Park, located in downtown Gulfport. Jones Park is the home of Ship Island’s replica lighthouse.
It always amazes me how quickly the light changes. Within ten minutes, we went from bright blue skies to those tinted by the warm oranges and pinks of sunset.
I also made my way to the Harbor Master’s, where the flag was at half-mast to honor fallen police officers as this is National Police Week. The buildings were also lit with blue, but it wasn’t dark enough yet to catch a good photo of them.
I wandered to the beach because as the meme says – salt water cures everything.
And then the sun was setting over the Small Craft harbor.
I hope you all have had a great week, and that your weekend is filled with plans that allow you to relax, take time to enjoy friends and family, and shoot lots of pictures!
Where I’m linking up this week.
And now it’s time for the Photo Friday link-up! Y’all shared such great photos last week, and I can’t see what you are coming up with for this week. Thank you for joining us each week.
Last week’s most-viewed link came from Steve at Steve’s Been There! He shared a trip to Death Valley with us, and I have to say – it’s a fascinating place!
Our last-entered link from last week came from Images by CW. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m fascinated by the way Claudia creates her images. I really appreciated her explanation of how she goes from photo to art. If you didn’t get to see it last week, go check it out now!
Like I said – I can’t wait to see what y’all have got in store for us this week!
