Some weeks, things just don’t come together, and then you have to revert to Plan B. Or sometimes Plan C. Occasionally even Plan Z because it’s just been that kind of week. I don’t know about you, but the first few days back at work after a break are really hard, which has left little time for gathering photos for Photo Friday. It’s like my day job doesn’t understand that I have a side gig. The nerve, right?
Tonight I actually made it home while the sun was still out, although that didn’t do me a whole lot of good. There is a cold front coming through, and the skies have been threatening rain for the last two days. There was no chance to capture a sunset or interesting boats in harbors. I’ll admit that I panicked a little bit. I could have re-edited some photos I already had taken, but that wasn’t really what I wanted to do.
Then I remembered this article and the exercises contained therein. I decided to do a variation on Exercise 12 – Steps. I elected to take my steps around the kumquat tree in the backyard. (& yes, I totally plan on collecting those bad boys and doing something with them. Even if it’s just making infused vodka, although I’m leaning towards candying them)
It took a bit to get my settings right or even to get the shutter to close. It brought home the point that I need to practice more…and that I’d love a good macro lens. At one point the neighbors were in their backyard, and I just know that they were wondering what in the heck I was doing.
(that blurry thing in the background is our gazebo. It’s kinda awesome)
And then the doggies were about done with waiting on me to finish playing with my camera. They have been conditioned to expect that as soon as Dad and Mom get home from work, they go out and then come in to get dinner. So waiting for Mom to take some photos was really a bit too much.
I hope that your photo-taking opportunities this past week were plentiful and that you were able to capture some amazing shots! This weekend is shaping up to be much better in terms of photo ops for me. Saturday I’ll be helping lay wreaths at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Then Saturday is Christmas on the Water or Dispatches from Pluto night or a friend’s 40th birthday party. And there’s First Friday. And the Christmas lights at Jones Park.
Have a good weekend y’all!
Photo Friday Link-Up
Welcome to another edition of the Photo Friday link-up! I cannot wait to see what y’all have for us this week. Thank y’all for sharing and commenting on each other’s posts. That really is what makes this such a great community – the best link-up on the internet, in my opinion 😉
Last week’s most viewed link came from Ruth at Tanamatales. She took us with her to Valencia.
Our last added link came from Elaine at Trip Wellness. This was her first time joining us, and she shared some amazing street art/murals from a Miami neighborhood. If you missed her last week, make sure that you check her out now!
And now without further ado, it’s time for this week’s link-up! I’m so excited to see what you have for us this week!
