Ahhhhhhh – Friday! What an amazing day Friday is. How has your week been? This week has been much better in my part of the world. I feel much more in control of life and where things are heading. That is possibly due to the fact that we are now down to the final hours of school, and I’m anticipating the sweet freedom that comes with walking out of a school building and not needing to get back up to do it again the next day for at least a few weeks.
I had to make a trip home to the Coast earlier than I anticipated this week, and because after school tutoring is over, I actually made it home quite early. Sweet Husband was tired, so he didn’t join me on my wanders this week. Because I was free to go wherever and shoot whatever, I wanted, I decided to make my way to the Biloxi lighthouse. The lighthouse thing is working for me, so why fix what isn’t broken? Am I right?
Tuesday afternoon was a gorgeous day on the Coast. There really weren’t very many clouds in the sky. As I looked back to the East – towards downtown Biloxi and the lights of the rapidly-rising new MGM Grand Ballpark. We can’t wait to sit in the stands, enjoying dollar beer night, watching the baseball team win games.
I suppose I’d never thought about lighthouses being made of cast iron. It makes sense, though, doesn’t it? The lighthouse in Biloxi is iconic. At various times during the year, for various reasons, the lighthouse gets illuminated in different colors. For example, the lighthouse shone blue for autism awareness. It was blue again this past week for Police Week. When I was there Tuesday afternoon, it wasn’t dark enough to see the lighthouse lit, but judging by the lens, there aren’t any special colors this week.
They’re building a park to the west of the lighthouse, and across the way, at the beach is the Lighthouse Pier – where lots of people fish and where a more hard-luck population has taken up residence and will sell you a painted oyster shell or a carved sliver of driftwood.
As the sun started to set, I realized that what I really desperately wanted to do was go home. When you spend a lot of time away from it, that’s where you want to be.
What shots did you get to take this week? And do you have any big plans for shooting over the Memorial Day weekend here in the States (where most of us have Monday off to remember our fallen military men and women)?
Where I’m linking up today.
Photo Friday Link-Up
There were so many of you last week! 21! I hope this means that we are growing and word is spreading. I try my best to make sure that everyone who participates gets several shares on social media, and hopefully y’all are seeing some bumps in traffic on Fridays and on through the weekend. From what I can see almost all of you received multiple views, so that is all good in my book.
We actually had a three-way tie for the most viewed link last week, which I think is awesome! Our top three came from Kathy at You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, Sue at image-in-ing, and Kelly at Swimming in Sunshine. If you missed them last week, go check them out this week.
As always, I also like to feature our last-added link. I know I’m guilty of not making it back to a link-up after I have spent my initial time browsing through the collections, so I like to give that last person a little love. Our last-added link for the last week came from Kid Can Doodle and features an interview with and images from Susie from BoyGirlParty. If you missed it last week, go check it out now. Some really great illustrations there!
Without further ado – it’s time to get to this week’s link-up!
