I’m looking forward to the summer for many reasons – primarily that I’ll be able to be home full-time. I’ve missed my husband and my puppies (and even my kitty, but not this morning when she was crawling on my head trying to get to my water) and being in my own space. A close second to that, though, is time to READ. I used to be a voracious reader. I mean I was reading a novel every couple of days. Since I’ve grown up and taken on all those stupid adult responsibilities like working, keeping house, cooking – I haven’t really had all that much time to read. Or, if I’m being honest, the internets have gotten in the way. I’m planning to change that with my Summer Reading List.
I’ve been furiously pinning book lists on pinterest, and I think it’s time to begin sorting through and making some decisions about what I am and am not going to be reading this summer. I always like a good plan of action. I would like to be able to knock out 2 books a week during the course of the summer. That is infinitely doable if I’m not working a full-time job and if the books are interesting. It’s also possible if we are spending afternoons on the beach. I can see now that I’m going to have to enlist Sweet Husband’s help in ensuring my summer reading success.
So, I definitely know that the number one book I want to read this summer is Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon. I have been waiting years for this book to come out, and it so happens that it comes out 3 days before my birthday. If someone loves me, it would make an incredible birthday pressie.
To be ready for that one, I need to go back and re-read the last one, so that needs to begin happening this weekend.
Now, some of the books on my list have been out awhile, but like I said, I haven’t had (or more accurately made) time to read in longer than I care to admit. So. I am intending to play catch-up this summer. I’m headed to the library this afternoon to get my account re-activated so I can make use of both their physical books and their e-books.
On my list for this summer:
These are the 20 books that I think I’m going to read this summer. Or I’m going to attempt to read this summer. I think there are a few books that are already on my Nook that I either need to finish or start or both, so they might get tossed in there for fun. As I finish a book, I’ll post a review. If you’d like to read along with me, let me know!
