While the weather here in the South has not been as terrible and extreme as it has been in other parts of the country, it has been unseasonably cold for us. This far south we have not had the gross ice and sleet that we had last year, but it has gotten down into the 20s. Last night our temperatures dropped some 40 degrees. It’s difficult to go from 80 one day and 35 the next. We are certainly ready for summer and afternoons on the beach.
To remind you and me of what we are missing, I have a few photos.
I am so ready for Saturday afternoons on the beach with my sweet husband. One of our very favorite things to do is pack a cooler, grab the beach chairs and umbrella, and then travel the 6 blocks to the beach. We listen to tunes from our wedding, have adult beverages, play in the water, and generally unwind. I read – either books on my Nook (the basic black and white one so I can actually read it on the beach) or catching up on the magazines that I haven’t read.
I’m also ready to spend time on my front porch. It’s an incredible place – so comfortable and quiet.
(yes that’s a day bed on the front porch. There are ceiling fans up there. It’s a perfect spot for a nap)
What’s your favorite part of summer?
