It’s not the best picture of him, tired and sweaty after a long day, but this is love. He’s sweaty because he was just out in the Mississippi heat- which has turned brutal in the last couple of days – watering our gardens, giving me the opportunity to watch my football game. This weekend I have been reminded how fortunate I am to have this man in my life, to call him my husband. He is respectful and considerate, patient and kind. He works hard to provide for me and while we have our moments, they don’t last. He works hard to pull me out of my shell and remind me that I don’t have to do this on my own any more- he’s here to help, to support me, to take the wheel if I need him to. His caring isn’t just for me, though. His kind was and generosity extends to friends, family, students, strangers.
It took me a long time to realize what I have here – to trust it. I am certain it is one of the best things I’ve ever done.
