Welcome to 2013! As previously noted, New Year’s wasn’t exciting but it turns out that it was just perfect. Right before midnight struck, we opened all the doors, & and Matt went out to be our first footer, carrying in the silver (our change jar) and bread we had left outside. As the ball dropped there was yelling and hooting and hollering to chase the old out and welcome in the new. And of course there was the kiss. Wonderful in delightful ways.
This New Year’s Day has been wonderful too. We got up and finished our cooking. I wrote my small stone for today as I am participating in a 30 Days of Mindful Writing.
The coffee grounds rise on the water, climb the sides of the filters, exhale from the effort and then slowly, clinging to the edges, slide back down the cone.
Soon after the family arrived…& more family arrived. I cannot think of a better way to spend the first day of this Amazing Year. Husband and I went for a walk with our doggies. The outside Christmas came down. We had traditional meals (or rather or take on the traditional menu). I took pictures both on my phone and with my camera for the 30 Day Photography Challenge that I’m participating in.
It’s been an amazing day.
I haven’t yet had a chance to put together my mondo beyondo list for the year; that won’t happen until the weekend when I am promising myself time to put together my hopes and dreams for the year. I know where I’m my hopes are heading. At least I think I do but I’m waiting for the year to let me know if I’m right. I’m giving it until this weekend ;-).
I am excited and hopeful. I am ready for what comes next. I’ve been making my plans, preparing the soil, & I believe this year will be the best yet. There are great expectations for this year, and I hope your feelings for the coming year are as jubilant as mine.
